In this section, one can access job postings for all academic employment in the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto. This includes all work for Faculty, Sessional Lecturers, and Course Instructors and Teaching Assistants (TAs). All forms necessary for submission of an application for academic employment are also available here.
There are three categories of academic employees in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto.
- UTFA: This is the University of Toronto Faculty Association (non-union). Employees hired under this category include full or part-time appointed faculty members, full or part-time lecturers, as well as CLTAs (Contractually Limited Term Appointments).
- CUPE 3902 Unit 1: This group includes graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and undergraduates of the University of Toronto. Employment includes T.A. work as a grader or tutorial leader and course instructorships.
- CUPE 3902 Unit 3: This group includes those who are external to the University of Toronto i.e. not studying at the University of Toronto. Job opportunities consist primarily of course instructorships referred to as Sessional Lecturers and Sessional Instructional Assistants (for TA work as a grader or tutorial leader).
- Post-Doctoral Fellows: The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE Local 3902, Unit 5) represents those employed as Post-Doctoral Fellows at the University of Toronto. However, please note that there are Post-Doctoral Fellows who are not covered by CUPE Local 3902, Unit 5. Members of this group have applied for their own funding and therefore are not employees, but independent academic trainees. Information for academic trainees can be found on the School of Graduate Studies website. Both employees and academic trainees are covered by the Policies for Postdoctoral Fellows (PDF) and the Administrative Procedures for Engagement of Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF).
