My research is focused on government-initiated Mathematics Curriculum Reform that took place in the USSR during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Colloquially these reforms are referred to as ‘Kolmogorov’s Reforms’ -in honor of a prominent mathematician A. Kolmogorov who was an enthusiastic promoter of changes in mathematics curriculum. Aforementioned reforms had long-lasting effects and provoked numerous discussions among educators and professional mathematicians. I am interested in different ways in which those government-initiated reforms were presented in journals on methodology of teaching mathematics. I am also investigating academic and political factors that influenced the development of the new curriculum.
