The Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History’s Selection Committee has awarded IHPST doctoral student Filippo Sposini the R. Roy McMurtry Fellowship in Legal History for 2019-20 for his research related to the emergence of the medical certification of insanity during the nineteenth century. Taking a transnational approach, Filippo looks at the diffusion of the so-called “English system of certification” in various jurisdictions, including Canada, the US, Australia, and New Zealand.

On behalf of all the members of the IHPST community, congratulations to Filippo!
