The Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology joins with our colleagues in the Department of Philosophy to mourn the passing of Margaret (“Margie”) C. Morrison on Saturday, January 9, after a long battle with cancer.
In addition to her world-renowned work on simulation, scientific models, philosophy of economics, and unification in physics, Margie Morrison enjoyed a sterling reputation as a warm and generous colleague and was a great friend and contributor to the intellectual and social life of the IHPST as a long standing Affiliate. She supervised several IHPST doctoral students and served on numerous supervisory committees and contributed service to some of the Institute’s Standing Committees.
You can read more about her influential contributions to the field of philosophy of science in the Philosophy Department’s tribute to her. Her kindness, generosity, and brilliance will be greatly missed.
